Is there anyone who hasn’t tried an AI filter at least once? Since last year, a flood of AI filters has emerged and gained huge popularity.
I’ve often used filters that transform selfies into cartoon characters, actor-style profiles, or American-style graduation photos. I even used the results as profile pictures or shared them on social media. But what if you could take a photo in a photo booth, process it with AI, and print it instantly?
Without wearing wigs or glasses, you could walk away with a truly one-of-a-kind photo. I recently experienced Play On, the photo booth content solution from Vive Studios that has been making waves on social media.
Play On uses Vive Studios' AI technology to instantly turn a user’s image into a character or transform it in various creative ways—all offline and in real-time. It brings AI profile features, once only available online, into the physical world, allowing users to create storytelling content similar to four-panel comics.
Filter Selection Scene
Once you take a photo in the booth, an AI-generated version is completed within 20 to 30 seconds—and you can print it instantly.
First, you can choose from filters such as ▲AI Beauty ▲AI Cartoon ▲AI Profile.
The AI Cartoon filter is expected to expand its variety of art styles through future collaborations with popular webtoon artists and aspiring illustrators. This initiative not only provides artists with an additional source of copyright income but also offers users a unique experience: taking photos in the art style of their favorite webtoons.

I selected the 4-cut photo option and started shooting. After taking several shots and choosing the one I liked best, it took just 20 to 30 seconds for the cartoon filter to be applied.
Compared to traditional AI profile services that used to take over an hour, this was impressively fast. Once the photo was generated, I picked a frame and printed it instantly—quick and seamless. It’s the perfect content experience for someone with an impatient personality.
A character animation closely resembling the real photo (right) was instantly printed.
With various facial expressions and poses, an adorable character version of myself was created. It perfectly captured the key features—curly short hair, round glasses, and chubby cheeks.
"Not bad… pretty cute, actually!"
The color of the eyes turned out purple, blue, or green—possibly due to light reflection on the glasses—but it felt like a reasonable artistic liberty in a cartoon style. What stood out even more was how it picked up on the subtle detail of my necklace and included it in the character.

A QR code printed at the bottom right corner of the photo allows you to download a video or image of the photo-taking moment.
If you're taking pictures with friends, it’s a fun way to save those cheerful memories or share them on various social media platforms. You can post the images on Instagram Stories, TikTok short-form videos, Twitter, and more.
Result of Applying the 'Actor' Profile
The AI profile options include filters such as Actor, Idol, a Little Bride and Groom in hanbok (traditional Korean attire), and "The Film," which transforms your look into that of a movie protagonist. I tried out the Actor and Hanbok profiles.
Once I selected the matching frame, the final result looked like a pretty impressive studio portrait.
Instead of an exaggerated, cartoon-like expression, the profile photo had a dignified and serious tone, resembling a formal ID photo.
Test Photos by ViveStudios Employees
At ViveStudios, there were various test photos taken by employees, showcasing a wide range of creative attempts. They are currently experimenting with props and incorporating different effects into the backgrounds as part of ongoing research.
Starting on the 30th, visitors can experience ViveStudios' "PLAY ON" feature at the photo booth located on the 3rd floor of Megabox Seongsu.
The PLAY ON solution will first be launched at this Megabox Seongsu location and then gradually expand nationwide. ViveStudios, in partnership with Daeseung Intercom, the operator of Eoljjang Studio Photo Shop, also plans to expand its services to international markets.
According to reports, several overseas locations have already received enthusiastic responses to the AI photo booth content. The real-time photo printing capability has been particularly praised for showcasing strong technical capabilities.
In addition to Eoljjang Studio Photo Shop, ViveStudios is collaborating with Insaeng 4 Cuts (Insaengnekkot) as well, running pilot services at locations in Gangnam, Sinchon, and three branches in Daegu.
Starting from the 30th, the "PLAY ON" feature will be available at the photo booth on the 3rd floor of Megabox Seongsu.
