At ViveStudios’ AI-powered photo booth based on the “PLAY ON” solution, you can meet a new version of yourself. A man can become a woman, a woman can become a man, and you can even see yourself as a K-pop idol. By choosing from various art styles, you can step into a cartoon world, or use props like flowers, guns, or swords to take unique photos.
In addition, ViveStudios provides the solution via the cloud, allowing photo booth companies to adopt it easily without purchasing new hardware. After launching PLAY ON in the Korean market, ViveStudios plans to expand into global markets as well.

Last month, I visited Megabox Seongsu to experience ViveStudios’ interactive AI solution, the PLAY ON-based AI photo booth. ViveStudios has formed a strategic partnership with Daeseung Intercom, a leading Korean sticker photo booth company, and is supplying PLAY ON to Daeseung Intercom’s booths.

Inside the photo booth, various options such as ▲AI Profile ▲PlayToon greeted me. Choosing the AI Profile first, I could select from male and female AI profiles, idol, little groom, and little bride themes. The AI recognizes your face and creates profile photos in various concepts. The entire process is usually completed within 30 seconds, and the final image is printed as a physical photo.

In particular, the reporter accidentally selected the female AI profile, and the AI transformed him into a woman. While initially quite surprised to see himself as a woman, it made the power of AI technology feel even more real. Afterward, he took photos using the male and little groom profiles as well. What stood out was the ability to enjoy AI-generated photos offline—something usually experienced only online—and receive printed versions instantly.
Additionally, "PlayToon" is a feature that turns users into cartoon characters. You can choose from three different art styles and pose for the photo, unlike with the AI profile. Another fun feature is that the AI recognizes props such as flowers or books and converts them into cartoon elements. Depending on how you hold the props, the AI might interpret them as a sword or a gun.

When the reporter held a flower, the AI recognized it accurately and transformed it into a cartoon-style flower. Then, when he posed with a keyboard as if holding a gun, the AI interpreted the keyboard as a firearm and turned it into a cartoon gun. Similarly, holding an umbrella like a sword made the AI perceive it as a blade. With this feature, users can creatively turn everyday objects into fun and imaginative elements.

A representative from ViveStudios, whom we met on-site, emphasized that PlayOn operates on a cloud-based system. In other words, photo booth operators can easily adopt the solution without having to purchase separate hardware. They added that PlayOn services can run smoothly even on low-spec PCs.
Furthermore, the cloud-based nature of the AI service makes maintenance easier. Since the AI features are modularized through individual APIs, only the necessary components can be selectively updated. This ensures overall service stability while continuously integrating the latest technologies. Additionally, using a cloud infrastructure allows for regular updates and management without the need for physical server access.

A representative from ViveStudios stated, “PlayOn’s cloud-based service is expected to bring significant improvements in terms of cost efficiency, scalability, and ease of maintenance,” adding, “It will allow us to respond flexibly to the rapidly changing demands of the market.”
Meanwhile, ViveStudios is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) early next year. The company recently conducted presentations for investors and is scheduled to proceed with due diligence soon.
