AI-based virtual production company ViveStudios announced on the 17th that it has officially launched its interactive AI solution, "PLAY ON."
PLAY ON is a solution that uses AI technology to transform users into characters or generate various visual representations of themselves. It utilizes technologies such as Stable Diffusion, which generates images from text, and Face Swap, which alters a person’s face to reflect desired appearances.
The solution offers multiple shooting modes, including four types of "Play Toon" filters that transform users into cartoon-style characters, and five types of "AI Profile" modes that allow users to take profile pictures as different genders or professions. Users can create comics of themselves in four unique styles, or experience transformations like becoming an idol or dressing in traditional Korean hanbok. Aimed at Gen Z and Alpha generations, PLAY ON enables personalized storytelling through photography in offline spaces.
PLAY ON is provided in two forms: bundled with a dedicated photo booth device, or as a cloud-based API (Application Programming Interface) that can be integrated with existing photo booths. This means that operators do not need to purchase new hardware to adopt PLAY ON—they can simply integrate the API.
Before the official launch, ViveStudios ran pilot programs in collaboration with five companies: Insaengnecut (Life Four Cuts), Megabox, Metaground, Miso Photo, and Eoljjang Sticker Photo. These pilots helped the company refine PLAY ON and build a stable operational system, while also validating market demand and user interest.
PLAY ON was also featured at the Tone & Music Festival 2024 held at Seoul Olympic Park on June 15–16. The booth attracted attention from its core audience of people in their 20s and 30s, offering a unique and engaging AI experience compared to traditional photo booths.
