3D content production specialist Vive Studios is expanding into the solutions sector as part of its transformation into a visual art tech company.

According to the startup industry on the 4th, Vive Studios now offers services in both the solution and content domains, based on its core virtual production technologies.

Founded in 2003, Vive Studios has focused on immersive content such as VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality), and XR (Extended Reality). With proprietary development of tools like the VIT (Virtual Integrated Tool) virtual production solution, the company is pushing ahead with new business expansions powered by robust technical capabilities.

What is VIT? VIT provides comprehensive services essential for virtual production (VP) operations. This includes:

Sales of VP solutions, Consulting and design of LED virtual studios, Training programs for VP operators

VIT was developed to lower the entry barrier caused by high costs and complicated maintenance of foreign VP solutions. It also aims to resolve the shortage of trained personnel in this field, providing a systematic way to solve challenges at VP filming sites.

A company representative explained, “VIT includes only the most essential functions based on Vive Studios’ extensive field experience, making it easy for anyone to manage a filming site.”

Key features of VIT include: △ Integrated VP operation △ Automated lens calibration △ Device monitoring △ User-friendly interface △ Convenient project management and execution

Vive Studios also offers VIPLE, a visual AI and virtual human solution, which enables everything from creation to corporate-level customization. This API-based visual AI tool allows companies to build customized visual AI assets within their own systems. VIPLE technology has been applied in Netflix Originals, including digital recreation of characters’ childhood versions or aging them to appear older than in real life.

PLAY ON: Cloud-Based AI Photo Booth

PLAY ON, powered by VIPLE, is a cloud-based AI photo booth service that enables users—especially Gen Z and Gen Alpha—to transform their appearances into characters or different personas using AI. It has drawn notable attention for its engaging and personalized experiences.

In the content domain, Vive Studios has produced over: 150 commercial and special visual projects, 100+ game cinematics, cementing its status as a leading CGI production company.

The studio also excels in interactive XR content, immersive media, and space-based visual experiences.

Vive Studios has recently passed a technical evaluation for technology-special listing and plans to file a preliminary listing review in the second half of the year. The company posted KRW 24.3 billion in revenue in the previous year, almost doubling from the year before, but also reported an operating loss of KRW 17 billion.

Despite the loss, the company has been recognized for its innovation, raising KRW 33.6 billion in funding since 2020 from investors including SK Telecom, which now owns about 5% of the company. Vive Studios was also selected as a Pre-Unicorn Special Guarantee Company by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
