Vive Studios Co-Presents Aircraft Maintenance Simulation Session at ‘Unreal Fest Seattle 2024’

Vive Studios announced on the 7th that it participated in "Unreal Fest 2024" held in Seattle, USA, where it co-presented a session on the development of a next-generation maintenance simulation platform with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI).

The session, titled "A Deep Dive into Aircraft Simulation with Unreal Engine," took place on July 2 at 3 a.m. KST.

Presenters included Ik-Hyun Kim, Principal Researcher at KAI, Soo-Jung Kim, Manager at Vive Studios’ Technology Operations Division, and Eun-Kyu Lee, Senior Researcher at Samwoo Immersion.

Soo-Jung Kim stated, “As extended reality (XR) and real-time simulation technologies continue to evolve, Unreal Engine allows even non-developers to easily build training programs. We are entering an era where XR technologies like virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) can be used in limitless ways.”

Since July, Vive Studios has been working with KAI on an R&D project to develop a VR-based maintenance training content authoring tool and software platform. The goal is to build the foundation of a next-generation fighter jet maintenance simulation platform using Unreal Engine and VR technology.

This R&D project aims to deliver high-fidelity virtual maintenance training content comparable to real-world aircraft maintenance scenarios. It focuses on enhancing the effectiveness of maintenance training and knowledge delivery through immersive content and platform development. It also includes the simultaneous development of a content creation pipeline and visual scripting tools to enable non-developers to easily produce professional training content.
