AI-based virtual production company Vive Studios announced on the 8th that it will unveil the world’s first moving LED cube-based simulation media show in collaboration with Japanese conglomerate Pasona Group at the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo.
This project represents a cultural technology export achievement worth approximately USD 6.5 million (KRW 9.5 billion), showcasing a global case of converged immersive technology that combines content and hardware. A representative from Vive Studios explained, “We designed and manufactured the large-scale moving LED cube in Korea, and installed it onsite in Japan to create a spatially immersive experience that goes beyond traditional video displays.”
The upcoming Expo will be held from April 13 to October 13, 2025, on Yumeshima Island in Osaka, with participation from approximately 160 countries, making it one of the largest global expos to date. In line with the Expo’s theme—“Designing Future Society for Our Lives”—Pasona Group will operate its pavilion under the title “Pasona Natureverse.”
The highlight show within the pavilion will feature a fusion of Vive Studios’ virtual production solution “VIT” and moving LED cube simulation technology—a world-first. The experience is designed so that motion, lighting, and video flow seamlessly together, making the entire space an integral part of the narrative, thus creating a new form of immersive media art.
In addition, a storytelling experience featuring iconic characters Astro Boy and Black Jack, in collaboration with the world-renowned Japanese animation studio Tezuka Productions, is planned for the show.
Vive Studios aims to use this opportunity to formally enter the Japanese media art and XR (Extended Reality) content market, while expanding its local partnerships in the region.
Meanwhile, Pasona Group intends to continue expanding its “Awaji Island Project” following the Expo, and Vive Studios is planning to strengthen its presence in Japan through long-term collaboration on this project.
Kim Se-kyu, CEO of Vive Studios, stated, “This project is a symbolic example of global collaboration that combines the creativity and execution power of Korean cultural technology,” and added, “We will continue to prove Korea’s potential on the world stage through innovative content experiences that transcend the boundaries between technology and art.”
