Samsung Electronics recently opened its flagship store, Samsung Gangnam. On the fourth floor, a unique media art installation is showcased on The Wall, a massive display screen. When visitors take a selfie on-site, their face appears as a media art video on the large screen. They can also appear as Samsung ad models on digital billboards across Gangnam’s skyscrapers, or even as dance partners to virtual human influencers.
This experience utilizes VIPLE, the virtual human creation solution developed by VIVE Lab, the AI research division of virtual production company VIVE Studios (CEO Kim Se-kyu). One of its key features, “Face Swap,” is applied here. VIVE Lab plans to launch four types of virtual human creation solutions using generative AI technology by the end of this year.
Kim Se-kyu, CEO of VIVE Studios, said, “We’re pleased that the media art installation allowed us to introduce the features of our virtual human creation solution VIPLE. We believe VIPLE can become a new creative breakthrough for producing media content that attracts the curiosity and participation of younger generations.”
VIVE Studios is a globally competitive art-tech company specializing in △ virtual production, △ digital immersive content, △ CGI (Computer Graphic Images). The studio has produced original story videos for HYBE’s BTS, as well as broadcast documentaries such as Meeting You and Kiss the Universe. Through its own AI R&D center, VIVE Lab, the company is actively developing AI-integrated virtual production and 3D modeling solutions.
